Ingredients:
Fresh okra, sliced into 1/2 inch slices
Buttermilk, whole, not low fat
Cornmeal
Salt and Pepper
Sage (optional)
Vegetable Oil

Directions:
Take some buttermilk (Not lowfat. If you use low fat, then you need to add an egg). In a separate bowl, combine your dry stuff, which is cornmeal, salt, a tiny dash of pepper and, if your having pork or red meat, I usually toss in some sage--not too much, just enough to give it something extra. Dunk the okra in the buttermilk then drop it in the dry stuff and coat it good. Then drop them in an iron skillet with really hot oil (test it by dropping some of the dry stuff in the there first to make sure it crackles) and cook it 'til it's brown.

This recipe was given to me by my friend Janet Eller.
