1 cup butter;
1/2 cup granulated sugar;
1 tsp almond flavoring;
pinch salt;
2 1/2 cups flour;
10 ounce jar maraschino cherries, well-drained and cut in half or quarters

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. Combine butter, sugar, almond flavoring, salt and flour. Mix well. Dough will be heavy. Take a spoonful of dough and place cherry half (or quarter) on it. Form dough into a ball around cherry, keeping cherry in the center. Should be about a one inch ball.
Place on greased baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Do not let cookies brown. While still warm (but not hot) drizzle butter cream frosting over top.

Butter Cream Frosting
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup softened butter
1/2 tsp almond flavoring
1/4 cup milk
Mix sugar and butter on low speed. Gradually add almond flavoring and small amount of milk until of spreading consistency.
