Measure 5 c. peeled and sliced apples into plastic freezer bag. Toss lightly with 3/4 c. sugar, 2 tbl. flour, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg. Place bag onto 9 inch pie tin and shape to pan. Squeeze out air, seal and quick freeze. When filling is frozen remove pan from freezer.

To make pie, line pan with pastry, spread with softened butter, slip frozen pie slices onto pastry, cover as usual and bake about an hour or until done.

Chopped nut meats added to an apple pie makes a delicious change in texture and flavor.
