Serves 8 (2 scones per person)

3 cups flour
2 Tbsp baking powder
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 stick butter, cut into small pieces
1 cup (8 oz) plain yogurt
1 cup (4 oz) shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions:

Preheat dutch oven. Place coals about 4 to 1 on top of dutch oven.

When ready to bake, line oven with foil, shiny side out, parchment paper, or coat with oil (canola or peanut).

Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, pepper and salt in large bowl. Rub butter into flour mixture with fingers or use two knives to cut into flour mixture until it resembles coarse meal.

Stir in yogurt and cheese. Shape dough into ball on lightly floured work surface.

Roll out dough to diameter of dutch oven, and score (mark, but don't cut through) into 16 wedges with a knife.

Bake about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
