1/4 c. butter,
1 c. sugar,
1 egg,
1 1/2 c. grated apple,
1 c. flour,
1 tsp. baking soda,
1 tsp. each cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt,

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar and egg. Sift flour, soda and spices. Mix together, add apples, bake in loaf pan at 350.
Vanilla Sauce for Pudding:
Mix together in saucepan; 1 c. brown sugar, 2 tbl. cornstarch or flour. Add water enough to make a paste, then add 2 c. boiling water gradually. Boil 1 min., stirring continuously. Stir in 4 tbl. butter and 2 tsp. vanilla
