1 c. shortening,
2 c. sugar,
4 eggs,
1 c. apple juice,
1 c. chopped nuts,
3 c. flour,
2 tsp. baking powder,
1/4 tsp. soda,
1 tsp. salt,
1 tsp. nutmeg
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift flour, measure, then shift again with baking powder, soda, salt, and nutmeg. Stir flour mixture and apple juice alternately into creamed mixture. Add nuts. Line two 9 inch layer cake pans with wax paper, and spoon batter into pans. Bake in a moderately hot oven of 375 º until center surface springs back when touched. About 30 min. Cool for 5 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks.
