"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Many people enjoy bacon for breakfast when camping. However, it can be hard to cook and even harder to manage the grease generated when cooking it. This leads to lots of problems when cleaning up.

The good news is that as a cook, you can plan to avoid these problems by using packaged pre-cooked bacon. Plan on each patrol member who eats bacon to receive 4 slices.

Important: A cook must realize that not all people can eat pork. When planning to serve bacon, be sure it meets with everyone's needs. If not, plan to serve a separately prepared alternative for those who cannot eat pork.

Pre-cooked Bacon - enough to provide each Patrol member 4 slices.

Directions:
Directions:
A non-stick skillet is best, but if one is not available, use a regular skillet.

Light stove and place skillet on burner. Let the skillet heat for about a minute.

Open package and place bacon slices in skillet. Let cook about 1 minute on medium heat per side at most.

Remember that this bacon is already cooked and only needs to be warmed to become crisp.

Serve!

Clean up is now a breeze... after letting the pan cool, just wipe down with a paper towel first to remove any grease and then wash according to the three pot method.

Believe me, the clean up person on your Patrol Duty Roster will thank you!
