1 lb. round steak
1 T margarine
1 envelope brown gravy mix
2 C water
1 T instant onion soup mix
2 T brown sugar
1 tsp salt
tsp pepper
tsp ginger
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
cup red wine

Cube or cut steak into strips. Cook in heavy pan in margarine until brown. Add gravy mix and water, heat until boiling. Add remaining ingredients, and cup of the wine and simmer for 1 hour. Remove bay leaf before serving; add cup wine right before serving. Serve over rice, broad noodles or mashed potatoes.
