"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous
This recipe for Kelly's Peanut Brittle, by Marie Bartlett, is from The Bartlett Family Cookbook ,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 cups sugar 1 cup corn syrup 1/2 cup water 2 cups raw peanuts 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. soda
Cook sugar, syrup, and water until a thread forms. Add peanuts and continue cooking until the peanuts pop open and the mixture turns golden brown. Remove from heat, add vanilla and soda. Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet and cool.
Recipe from Grandma Eldredge's old yellow cookbook.
