You can't make these pies, Mom bought them but Pet Frozen Cream Pies hold a special place in my memories of growing up. We didn't have air conditioners when I was small and the summer days were as hot as they are now. At the end of the day, usually on weekends, we would congregate outside, usually under a shade tree in the evening, just before the sun went down. Mom and Dad had chairs, and maybe Nancy, but the rest of us had the grass and blanket to settle on. Mom would have bought a couple Frozen Cream Pies and popped them in the freezer. Then at the end of the day, she'd bring out a lemon, chocolate, strawberry or banana pie and we'd enjoy the icy sweet tang of the ice cream dessert in the balmy air while the lightening bugs came out and entertained us, along with the crickets and family chats.
