*1 c. tomato juice = 1/2 c. tomato sauce and 1/2 c. water

*1 c. ketchup = 1 c. tomato sauce plus 1/2 c. sugar and 2 TB. vinegar

*1 small onion = 1 TB. minced onion

*1 tsp. lemon juice = 1/2 tsp. vinegar

*1 tsp. baking powder = 1/4 tsp. baking soda plus 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

*1 sour cream = add 1 TB. vinegar or lemon juice then add milk to equal 1 c.

*1 c. sweet milk = 1 c. sour milk or buttermilk and 1/2 tsp. baking soda

*1 c. milk = 1/2 c. evaporated milk plus 1/2 c. water

*1 c. self rising flour = 1 c. all purpose flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1 tsp. baking powder

*1 c. powdered sugar = 1 c. granulated sugar plus 1 tsp. cornstarch

*1/2 c. brown sugar = 1 c. granulated sugar plus 2 TB. molasses

*1 c. granulated sugar = 1 c. packed brown sugar or 2 c. powdered sugar

*1 c. molasses = 1 c. honey

*1 c. honey = 1 1/4 c. sugar plus 1/4 c. liquid

*1 c. corn syrup = 1 c. sugar plus 1/4 c. liquid

*1 sq. unsweeted chocolate = 3 TB. cocoa plus 3 TB. shortening

*1 oz. bitter chocolate = 4 TB. cocoa plus 2 TB. butter

*6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted = 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate plus 2 TB. shortening and 1/2 c. sugar

*1 c. half & half = 7/8 c. milk plus 1/2 TB. butter or 1/2 c. coffee creamer and 1/2 c. milk

*1 c. sour cream = 7/8 c. yogurt or 1 c. cottage cheese, 1-3 TB. milk, 1 TB. lemon juice, blend, store in fridge.

*1/4 c. fine bread crumbs = 1/4 c. cracker crumbs or 1/4 c. crushed cornflakes

*1 c. beef broth = 1 tsp. instant beef bouillon or 1 beef bouillon cube dissolves in 1 c. hot water (can also use the same thing for chicken)
