2 egg whites
1 and 1/4 cups sugar, sometimes it seems one cup is enough, depending on the size of the eggs
1 TBSP lemon juice
4 TBSP water
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla, add after cooking frosting

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients, except vanilla, in a double boiler. Beat with a beater till frosting holds in the beater or soft peaks. Apply to a 9 x 13 cake immediately.

Mother made this so often, I am sure she could do it in her sleep. This is a pretty frosting and often used to decorate children's birthday cakes which Linda, Mother and I did often as we shared the news of the day.
