"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali
This recipe for Peanut Patties, by Doris Sirmon, is from The Sirmon Family Cookbook ,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. milk 2/3 c. white Karo syrup 2 c. raw peanuts few drops of red food coloring 2 tbsp margarine 1 tsp. vanilla
Cook first five ingredients slow to firm ball stage when dropped in cold water. Remove from heat and add margarine and vanilla. Stir with spoon while it cools in skillet. Drop on foil or pour all out at once and spread. Break apart when cool. I cook this in an iron skillet.
