Melt over hot water 1/2 c. shortening and 2 squares unsweetened chocolate,
2 eggs well beaten,
1/2 c. apple sauce, 1 tsp. vanilla,
1/2 tsp. baking powder,
1/4 tsp. soda,
1/4 tsp. salt, 1/2 cup chopped nuts.
Directions:
Directions:
Shift and stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda,and salt together. Add all other ingredients, stir until blended, pour into greased and floured pan 9x9. Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350. sprinkle with powdered sugar or frost.
