2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. white corn syrup
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 stick butter or margarine
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve baking soda into buttermilk. In large saucepan, mix sugar, syrup, buttermilk/soda, and salt; cook over low to medium heat to soft-ball stage. Remove from heat and beat while cooling. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into buttered 8-inch pan until set up, then cut into squares.
