3 tbsp. shortening
2 lbs. round steak, cut into 1 in. cubes
1 c. chopped onion
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 (4 oz) can mushrooms, drained
1 1/2 c. sour cream
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce (optional)
1/4 c. water
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. water

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening, add beef cubes and brown.
Add chopped onion and cook until onion is transparent. Add garlic, mushrooms, sour cream, tomato sauce, water, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Cook on high heat until steaming, then turn down heat and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hour, or until meat is tender. Combine cornstarch and water and add to meat mixture; cook until thickened. Set aside to cool, if you want to freeze it.
