4 large pears, halved and cored
8 sheets phyllo dough
soft butter



SAUCE:
1 c. sugar
2 T. cornstarch
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. butter
1 t. vanilla
rum or rum flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Stem pears if unripe. Place pear half in middle of 2 sheets thick phyllo dough (brush butter in-between the 2 layers). Scrunch and bunch outside of dough to make an enclosed pocket around pear. Brush outside with soft butter and bake until golden brown. Combine sauce ingredients and boil till thick (rolling 1 minute). Add rum to taste. Pour on each individual serving and serve warm. Looks nice with a mint leaf or a dough leaf for garnishment.
