4 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 pkg dates
1 1/2 c. nuts
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Break 4 eggs in a bowl and beat slightly. Add 1 1/2 cups of sugar, 1 pkg. of dates and 1 1/2 cups of nuts, 1 cup of flour with 2 level tsp. of baking powder and 1 tsp. of vanilla. Bake from 45 minutes to 1 hour in a very slow oven.

The Monroe folks (especially mother's cousin, Sophie Laudinheimer) used to brag on Mom's Date Tart when they would come for a visit around Thanksgiving and pick up pointsettias after they visited the Metzger's in Vicksburg.
