12 medium size potatoes
2 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
4 slices bread
flour

Onion Gravy For Raw Potato Dumplings:

1 Tbsp. lard
2 to 3 big Spanish onions, chopped or sliced very fine
salt and pepper to taste

In a large skillet melt lard. When this is a nice light brown, add juice from boiling dumplings to make this the thickness you like and serve the dumplings.

Put a 6-quart kettle about 2/3 full of water on to boil. Grate potatoes and drain off juice; to do this, use a strainer. Put in large bowl and add eggs and salt. Cut bread in cubes and add to potatoes. Add flour to make a very stiff dough. Make medium size dumplings. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls into boiling water. Stir lightly so dumplings won't stick on bottom. Boil at least 30 minutes. Bread may be omitted.
