3/4 c. brown sugar (1 1/8c.)
2 c. scalded milk (3c.)
1/4 c. sugar (3/8c.)
3 egg yolks (4 or 5)
1/2 c. flour (3/4c.)
1 1/2 TB. butter (2TB.)
1/8 tsp. salt (same)
1 tsp. vanilla (1 1/2 tsp.)

Directions:
Directions:
(This is a recipe for an 8" pie, the amounts in parenthesis are for a 10" pie.) Combine sugars, flour and salt in double boiler. Add scalded milk gradually, stirring so mixture will be smooth. Cook for 15 mins. Pour some of this mixture over beaten yolks, mix and pour back into top of double boiler. Cook for 3 mins. Stir constantly. Remove from heat and add butter. Cool. Add vanilla.

Grandma's advice on this recipe is NOT to try to substitute 2 whole eggs for 3 egg yolks, it DOES NOT work.
