Meat Sauce:
2 medium onions, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 Tbsp. olive oil
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 lb. Italian sweet sausage
12 oz. can tomato paste
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. dried basil leaves
1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves
1/4 tsp. dried oregano leaves
1 bay leaf
3/ cup dry red or white wine

White Sauce:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
2 cups milk
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

8 ounce package sliced Swiss cheese
8 ounce package sliced Mozzarella cheese
8 ounces (2cups) shredded Provolone cheese
1 lb. fresh or 16 oz. lasagna noodles
1/2 cup butter or margarine
15 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
3 cups. shredded Mozzarella cheese

Directions:
In large saucepan saute onions and garlic in olive oil. In skillet, brown ground beef and sausage. Drain. Add to onions and garlic.Add remaining Meat Sauce ingredients. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat,simmer uncovered about 2 1/2 hrs., stirring occasionally.

Heat oven to 350º. For white sauce,in small saucepan, melt margarine or butter. Stir in flour, salt and red pepper flakes. Gradually add milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.

In lasagna pan or 9x13x2 inch pan, layer 1/3 of noodles,1/2 tomato sauce, 5tbsp. Parmesan cheese, 1/3 of noodles,Swiss cheese, Provolone cheese, white sauce, sliced Mozzarella cheese, 5 tbsp. Parmesan cheese,1/3 of noodles, remaining tomato sauce,5 tbsp. Parmesan cheese, shredded Mozzarella cheese. Cover, bake 55 minutes. Remove cover. Bake 5 minutes longer. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting.
