Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup of the warm water and 1 tbsp. of the sugar. Blend in remaining ingredients, except flour and cheese. Then beat in cheese and 2 cups of flour and mix well. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a thick batter. Cover and let rest ten minutes. Pour into greased loaf pan; cover with waxed paper; and let rest in warm place until doubled in bulk. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes, or until deep golden brown. Let stand five minutes before turning out onto wire rack to cool.
