Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups flour
2 rounded tsp. baking powder
¾ tsp. salt
2 eggs
milk
fruit (halved, pitted blue plums, fresh, sliced peaches)
melted butter
flour and sugar for center

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Add unbeaten eggs to a “well” in flour. Stir, adding just enough milk to make medium-stiff dough. Place dough on floured board; knead lightly 2 or 3 times. Divide into 4 portions and roll each into 5 to 6- inch rounds. Spread ½ tsp. flour and ½ tsp. sugar on center of each round; place fruit on this mixture. Moisten edges of round with milk or water; bring edges together to close completely. Drop dumplings into a large kettle of boiling water and boil 15 minutes, turning once, until done. Lift dumplings carefully onto a platter; brush with melted butter. Flavor may be enhanced by cooking some of the fruit to make thin syrup to pour over dumplings.
