Should you ever find yourself lucky enough to become friends with a family like this, count your lucky stars! Dewey has been a member of this family, forever.
Every year the Mocks have a party at their lake property and it is as good as it gets. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave you are treated like a family member, no matter who you are. They have great food, the best of company, games, beverages, and we can't forget the Karaoke. Jody (Bill's wife) is the most hospitable hostess I have ever met. You cannot put into words the family that they have raised. The respect and love they have shown for their parents is something you do not see often enough now days. Bill and Jody knew they could count on their kids and extended family to show up for the special lake party, knowing that it was one of the biggest events Bill enjoyed during his lifetime. He was so proud of them all and he was not embarassed about letting everyone know it.
Sadly, Bill died two years ago and things will never be the same without him. The smiling face, that crazy laugh of his, the Karaoke he loved to sing, this was his BIG day. Bill would dedicate "Your Cheating Heart" to his wife Jody every party, she would just sit there and smile at him, enjoying every minute of his delight in having friends and family near. He loved to sing that song AND he did a great job of it. There was nothing bad intended by his song selection to Jody, but we all thought it was a hoot! He had that low voice, so clear you could hear it echo off the lake. I know because I walked to the other side of the lake one night while the party was still going and I could hear the laughter and chatter of everyone having a great time. The music started and you could hear Bill's voice clear across the lake to the other side. The Mock Family still host the lake party and I bet you hear a lot of "this one's for "Wild Bill" the best husband, dad and friend there ever will be!" Here's to you Bill! You were " SOMETHING SPECIAL"!
