1/4 cup rice or 1/2 cup pasta
1 large can diced tomatoes
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 large onion, chopped
1 - 2 quarts water
1 ham or steak bone, or leftover roast or stew meat, or alternatively 1 - 2 bullion cubes
1 Tablespoon Kitchen Bouquet or Maggi gravy brown
1 package frozen mixed vegetables
1 cup sliced okra, if available
1 - 2 potatoes cut in cubes
Tabasco to taste

Simmer meat or bone, water, onion, salt, and pepper for 30 minutes. Add vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes, and okra, and simmer 30 minutes. Add rice or pasta, Kitchen Bouquet and Tabasco. Simmer 30 minutes and serve.
