1 lb. dry baccala
1 lg. can crushed tomatoes
1 tsp ground thymes
2 lg. cloves garlic, chopped
4-5 sprigs parsley, chopped
2 large onions, chopped
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tsp sugar
15 prunes
1 cup water
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Soak baccala covered in refrigerator for 2 days, changing the water 3 times daily.
In a large sauce pan saute onions and garlic in olive oil. Add tomatoes, stir to mix. Add remaining ingredients except baccala, stir gently, let cook for a 1/2 hour. Drain and rinse baccala and cut into 2 inch pieces, place in pan and stir gently. Let simmer for 30 minutes.
