2/3 cup soft shortening, part butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 package chocolate chips (6 oz.)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. Mix shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla. Blend dry ingredients. Stir in shortening mixture. Mix in nuts and chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
