2 medium cans flat green beans
1/2 t sugar
1 1/2 T bacon grease
1 medium onion, diced
country ham/ham jowl/ham hock

Directions:
Directions:
Note: ALLEN brand flat green beans preferred. Drain juice from cans. Put green beans into pan and fill cans with water and add to pan - enough to cover beans. Add all ingredients and salt/pepper, to taste - little salt needed if country ham is used. Cook slowly for two hours. Quartered potatoes can be added and will absorb the salt.
