1 cup molasses
1 cup melted shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup molasses
4 teaspoons baking soda in one cup hot water
1 1/2 teaspoons bakewell cream
5 cups flour
1 tespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinamon

Directions:
Directions:
Combine molasses, sugar, shortening, add eggs and dry ingredients.
Roll in balls size of fifty cent piece.
Roll in sugar--do not flatten!
bake on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

This is a good guess, since Grammy never wrote down her recipes. She would sometimes throw the whole batch in a bread pan and bake them that way. She baked in an oven with a big upsde-down glass kerosine bottle that fueled it.
