Directions: |
Directions:The night before you want to make these take your starter out of the fridge and add 1 1/2 cups warm water and 2 cups all purpose flour. Cover and let stand overnight in a warm place. The next morning take out the 1 cup you need and put the rest back in the fridge. If you are going to double or triple the recipe you will need to double the water and flour you add to the starter the night before.
Mix dry ingredients together in large bowl. Mix wet ingredients together in medium bowl. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Let sit in a warm place for 15 minutes. Heat griddle to 350º or until a drop of water spatters when dropped on the griddle. Drop scant 1/3 cup batter for each pancake. These will spread like crazy and puff and bubble. Turn when a bubble in the middle pops and does not fill again with batter. Let cook another 2 minutes. Serve with butter, syrup, jam, or Uncle Matt's Orange Sauce. |

Notes: Jarom's Great Uncle Robert Hicken got the starter on his mission in Alaska in the 1960's from an "old sourdough" (man). This starter is over 150 years old.
