2 cups sugar
1 cup lard
2 eggs
1 cup sour milk (milk and 1 tblsp vinegar)
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
4 cups flour
2 tsp vanilla

Strawberry jam.

Directions:
Directions:
Mix baking soda, baking powder and flour together, set aside. Cream lard, add sugar, vanilla and eggs. Mix in dry ingredients. Gradually add milk. You may add more flour if dough is too "wet".

Make dough into small balls.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 350.

When cool put strawberry jam between two cookies to make a sandwich.

You may use your favorite jam or jelly to make this recipe. This cookie was a favorite of mine when I was a child. The recipe came from an old family friend in Pennsylvania.
