After Paw Paw got out of the Navy him and Pepene farmed and worked at Lockheed. When they went into full time farming Paw Paw swapped their only car for a tractor. As soon as Brock, Jeffrey & your daddy Brian were old enough they were working in the chicken houses and helping on the farm. Brian said he always dreaded summertime to come when school was out because when most kids were having summer fun and playing ball he was working from daylight till dark in the fields; but he also realizes this kept him out of trouble.

Growing up on a farm they always started their day with a huge breakfast. They worked long hours eating lunch in the field and always a late supper. It didn't take long to fall asleep in those days because they were exhausted.

Paw Paw & Pepene built a new house on the farm in 1974. When me and Brian married we moved in the old homeplace and raised the boys there until they were 16, 15, 11 & 12. Paige now lives there with her family Kevin, Lila & Luci. We have so many memories there when the boys were little and we still miss that cool breeze that always blows on the porch. Brian always said there was a wind tunnel there because there was always a cool breeze no matter what time of year it was. It was a great place to raise the boys, swinging on the porch with the cool breeze while watching the boys play under the big shade trees and the view was beautiful.
