"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Terry's Crowd Pleasing Spaghetti Sauce, by Beth Gunnoe, is from The McCullough Family Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 lbs lean meat (ground hamburger, or turkey) 1 large chopped onion 1 large chopped bell pepper 2 tablespoons garlic powder 2 tablespoons onion powder 1/3 cup cilantro 2 cans 15 oz hunts tomato sauce 2 cans 14 1/2 oz diced tomatoes 6 small cans 6 oz ea hunts tomato paste (or 2 large cans)
Cover meat with water, let boil and stir meat to break it up into small pieces. When meat is cooked, drain well and cover with fresh water. Add 1 large chopped onion, 1 large bell pepper and cook until vegetables are tender. Add all other ingredients. Let simmer an hour or so on low heat stirring occasionally so it does not stick or burn.
