"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Grandpa's Fried Cabbage with Hot Links, by Ed Rodrigues, is from Herring Heritage Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
1 head green cabbage cored and shredded 1 lb Louisana Hot Links cut 1/4 inch slices 1/2 medium onion diced 3 T oil salt, pepper, and garlic granules to taste
In 10 or 12 inch frying pan add oil and cook sausage over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Add cabbage sprinkle with seasonings to taste. Stir constantly using two spatulas until cabbage is well wilted. Serve immediately. Pass the bottle of Louisana Hot Sauce for those who dare.
My father-in-law, John Herring, loved to make this dish.
