French Onion Soup Recipe

2 Med. Onion (thin sliced)
2 TBS. melted butter
4 C Beef Broth
1/2 C water
Salt and Pepper to taste
1/2 C Madeira Wine (optional)
Parmesan Croûton/ French Bread cut in to 1" Slices
1/2 C Shredded Swiss Cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Cook onions in butter in large skillet covered until tender (about 5 min) uncover skillet and continue cooking until well browned, stirring occasionally, stir in broth and water cover and simmer 30 min, add salt and pepper, stir in wine. Ladle soup in to individual oven proof dishes, place Parmesan Croutons or French bread on top, sprinkle with Swiss cheese, bake at 400º for 15 min until cheese is melted and golden brown.
