3 cups raisins
3 cups currants
1 1/4 cup candied red cherries (4ths)
1 cup chopped nuts
3 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp mace
1/2 tsp allspice
1 cup shortening
1 cup honey
1/4 cup brown sugar
6 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup fruit juice
6 Tbsp vinegar

Directions:
Soften raisins and currants over boiling water. Dry and cool on paper towels. Mix with cherries, nuts, and 1/2 cup flour.

Sift together 2 1/2 cups flour, salt, soda and spices.

Cream shortening with honey and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs.

Combine fruit juice and vinegar. Add alternately with dry ingredients, stirring well after each addition. Blend in fruit-nut mixture.

Bake in greased 15 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch pan lined with heavy brown paper at 300º for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Or bake in a 10" tube at 300º for 3 hours.
