2-1/2 c. Flour
2-1/2 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/8 tsp. Nutmeg
1/2 c. Butter
3/4 c. Sugar
1 Egg, beaten
1/2 c. Buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour. Measure and resift 3 times with baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Set aside. Cream shortening and gradually add sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Stir in 1/3 of flour mixture then add milk and remaining flour, beating thoroughly. Do not add more flour.

Shill dough for several hours. Roll to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with 2 or 3 inch cookie cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 400º for about 12 minutes (or until delicately brown).
