1/2 c bacon drippings or oil
1/4 c flour
2 c cold water, milk or cream

Directions:
Directions:
Place oil in sauce pan, stir in flour, set pan over moderate heat, stir and scrape until flour and oil are smoothly blended and nicely brown, add liquid, cook and stir until smooth, season to taste with salt and pepper.
