"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Popcorn Balls, by Lois Cooper, is from Cooking From The Heart,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
1 cup sugar 1/3 cup white syrup 1/3 cup water 1/4 cup butter or margarine 3/4 tsp salt 3/4 tsp vanilla Popped popcorn
Cook first 5 ingredients together. Stir all the time until sugar is dissolved. DO NOT STIR AFTER SUGAR IS DISSOLVED.
When a small amount of syrup is put in a dish of cold water and it turns brittle and breaks, remove from fire and add vanilla. Pour over popcorn and squeeze into balls. BUTTER YOUR HANDS BEFORE SQUEEZING.
