2 C raisins, 1 C water, 1 C shortening, 2 C sugar, 3 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 C nuts (optional) 4 C flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp baking soda, 2 tsp salt, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/4 tsp allspice.

In small saucepan boil raisins in water for 5 minutes. In the meantime cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Mix well. Add raisins to creamed mixture and add vanilla..
In a large bowl mix together dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Drop a tsp at a time onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 400ºF until brown or 10-12 minutes.
