4 medium cooking apples (Green Granny are good)1 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar well packed
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Peel, core and quarter apples
Add apples to water
Bring water and apples to boil over medium heat
Reduce heat to simmer and stir occasionally
until the apples reach the texture you desire
Stir in sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg
Bring to boil or until dry ingredients are dissolved

For a chunky apple sauce, in another pot boil a peeled, cored, quartered (or smaller) apple and add it to the completed apple sauce.
