2/3 cups granulated sugar
1 ¼ cups milk
2 eggs beaten
4 Tablespoons oil
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 cups sifted all purpose flour

Mix sugar, milk and eggs. Add oil, then dry ingredients, combine lightly. Drop by tablespoon into hot oil (keep oil between medium to medium-low temperature, otherwise donuts will end up burning). Let donuts get brown on one side before carefully flipping over to other side. These are a little tricky to do because if you make these too large you will have trouble getting the donut done in the middle, so it’s best to stick with a rather small donut size on these so they get done all the way through. When browned on both sides lift out of pan with slotted spoon to drain off excess oil and place on paper towels to drain and cool just a bit. While still hot (but able to handle) roll donuts in either cinnamon and sugar mixture or confectioners (powdered) sugar and enjoy. They are so delicious if eaten while still warm. This recipe may be doubled.

This is another recipe handed down from my mother. It's a quick donut recipe and the donuts make nice, fun shapes when you drop them into the hot oil. Children will love these!
