Cream together:
1 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
In a separate bowl, combine:
2-1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Add flour and salt combo to butter mixture. Chill for 3-4 hours.

Directions:
Directions:
Lightly dust rolling surface with flour. Roll dough out to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out with selected cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheet (decorate as desired with sugar sprinkles before baking) and bake for 6-8 minutes for softer cookies and 8-10 minutes for crispier cookies. Place cookies on cooling racks. If unsugared, ice when cookies have cooled completely.
Icing:
1 T. butter, melted. Add powdered sugar, milk and vanilla (start with 1/4 tsp. or less). Mix to desired taste and thickness. Add coloring if desired. Ice while icing is still warm.
