1 1/2c. boiling water
1 TB. shortening
1 c. raisins
2 3/4 c. flour
1/4-1/3c. maraschino cherries
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
RESERVE cherry juice. Combine the boiling water, raisins, and 1/2c. cherry juice. Let set for 1 hour. Cream the sugar, egg and shortening. Add the flour, soda and salt. Fold in the raisin mix and the chopped cherries. Pour into 2 small greased pans. Bake @ 350 for 1 hour.

This bread was on grandma's table quite often when we had coffee. I asked grandma for the recipe and that was the first time I was introduced to grandma's recipes, I get my recipe collecting habits from her! BR
