1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter (or margarine), softened
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1 tsp. soda dissolved in tsp. sour milk
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:

Cream sugar and butter, Add eggs and vanilla, beat. Add soda, beat. Add dry ingredients alternately with bananas. Beat after each addition. Stir in nuts. Pour in greased and floured 9 1/2x5x3 in. loaf pan. Bake at 300º for 1 hour. Test with toothpick to see if done.

Make sour milk by adding 1/4 tsp. of cider vinegar to 1 tsp. milk. Stir.
