1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp water
1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cups quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup (3-ounces) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1 cup walnuts, chopped (first roast 5 minutes in 350 F oven)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar together well. Add egg and water; beat well. Add vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients and oats; mix well. Stir in chocolate pieces and walnuts.

Drop onto greased baking sheets; press down slightly. Bake in moderate oven, 375 F, for 10 to 15 minutes. Cool on racks.
