1/2 c. sugar
1-1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. hot water
1/4 c. light corn syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
pecans, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
In saucepan, mix sugars, water, syrup and salt. Boil together to hard ball stage (250 F). Butter the sides of a mixing bowl and beat egg whites until stiff (not dry). Pour hot syrup over egg whites in thin stream while mixing with hand mixer. Add vanilla and beat until soft peaks form and the mixture begins to lose its gloss. Mix in pecans, if desired. Place by teaspoonfuls on waxed paper.
