2 cakes yeast (2 packages)
1 cup lukewarm water
1/2 cup lukewarm milk
5 cups of flour
1/2 lb butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
6 egg yolks
1 lb. ground walnuts
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
egg whites from 4 eggs

Break yeast in bowl and add milk and water until dissolved. Mix in 2 cups flour, beat well, cover and set in warm place to rise until double in bulk.

Cream butter and sugar. Beat egg yolks. Add to yeast dough with salt. To this add 2 stiffly beaten egg whites and the remaining flour. Beat or knead all of this well, and cover and set in warm place to rise.

While dough is rising finely grind walnuts, add sugar and mix well.

Divide dough in three parts. Place dough on floured board - roll 1/2" thick, brush with beaten egg whites, spread the nut filling and add raisins. Roll as for jelly roll. Place on greased oblong pan. Let rise again until impression remains when dough is touch gently.

Bake about 1 to 1 1/2 hours at 250º oven
