1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. double acting baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/4 c. maraschino cherries, chopped
1 c. shredded coconut, cut fine
1/2 c. pecans, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven at 375º. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream together butter and shortening. Add egg and almond extract. Blend in dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly. Add maraschino cherries, coconut and pecans. Mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets. Flatten slightly. Top each cookie with a quarter maraschino cherry. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
