1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. butter softened
1 c. white sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Cover and let stand 20 minutes. Beat butter until creamy, gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs. Add oatmeal mixture and mix well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture. Pour batter into well greased and floured 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350º for 50-60 minutes. Do not remove cake from pan.
